Advanced Water Jet Cutting Techniques: High-Pressure Precision and Abrasive Integration
In water jet cutting, the material to be processed is separated by a high-pressure water jet. This jet has a pressure of up to 6000 bar and reaches exit speeds of up to 1000 m/s. The material being cut hardly heats up, making this method suitable for cutting hardened steel, unlike laser cutting. To enhance the cutting performance, an abrasive, a cutting medium, is added to the water. It is only through the addition of such an abrasive that it becomes possible to cut harder materials.
