Bending in Contract Manufacturing: Forming Processes and Techniques

Bending is a forming manufacturing process in contract manufacturing. During this process, a bending moment is applied to the semi-finished product (the starting material before forming), resulting in a plastic, i.e., permanent deformation. Bending of sheets, also known as edge bending or flanging, is essentially achieved by folding a section of the sheet against the remaining section of the sheet panel.
